Écrire
In this diptych from the FRAGMENTS collection, writing becomes a trace and a whisper. ÉCRIRE, here, is not to trace certainties, but to let refusal infuse the material. On the left, beneath the skin of a transparent and crumpled fabric, a diluted primary red stain stretches like a wound or a sediment of memory. Through this veil, the word “non” (no) is visible, traced in graphite cursive—a word that does not impose itself but inhabits the paper like a persistent silence.
On the right, a red rectangle of lines draws the enclosure, evoking the bars of a small bed or a cage, where seclusion takes shape. From this rigid structure escapes a vapor, a ghostly presence painted in subtle white and pink, appearing to rise toward flight. This fragment stands as a witness to what we try to hold onto when everything threatens to disappear, a shard of history captured between the written refusal and the evaporating form.
