Within the TALISMANS collection, the work Sans ailes takes form as a suspended memory object. This cluster of skin-toned pink threads, folded in two like limbs in suspense, is held by a ribbon stained with pale red that serves as the anchoring point for the needle.
At the heart of this textile anatomy, two raw clay forms, enhanced with 22k gold leaf, weight the object with their presence. An abscess of intertwined red threads punctuates the composition, evoking the trace of an intimate experience or an organic protrusion. Somewhere between a ritual tool and a museum piece, this sculpture explores the importance of matter in retaining remembrance.
